Khon Kaen Ram Hospital installed more than 1 MW of solar capacity to save energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Khon Kaen Ram Hospital Goes Green with More Than 1 MW of Solar Panels aiming to save energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 18,000 tonnes over their lifetime, equivalent to more than 700 tonnes per year.

Electricity consumption has risen significantly alongside growth in the hospital's health care services. In 2024, Khon Kaen Ram Hospital set a goal of becoming a green private hospital by making more effective use of renewable energy. This is an important step toward a sustainable green hospital in Khon Kaen Province.

Mr. Suphareuk Kittiponghansa, a Khon Kaen Ram Hospital executive, said: “The hospital studied and invested in this solar project carefully as part of its 2023 sustainability plan. Installation is now more than 99% complete. The panels cover more than 4,700 square meters of hospital rooftops and have supplied electricity to the hospital since 23 October 2023. We expect them to generate more than 1,400 MWh of clean energy per year and substantially reduce the hospital's electricity costs.”

Over an estimated 25-year lifespan, the solar system is expected to generate 28,000 MWh of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 18,000 tonnes, equivalent to planting 1.5 million trees.
