Post-Vaccination Care: Typhoid Vaccine
Common Side Effects
- Local Reactions: Pain, swelling, redness, or a small hard lump at the injection site. This occurs in more than 10% of cases. If your child experiences significant pain, you may apply a cold compress. These symptoms usually resolve on their own within 2–3 days.
- Fever: Occurs in more than 1% of cases. You may give your child a cool sponge bath to reduce the temperature. If the fever is high or persistent, administer fever-reducing medication (Antipyretics) as directed by your physician.
When to Seek Immediate Medical Attention

- Severe Allergic Reaction (Anaphylaxis): Such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, eyes, or tongue.
- High Fever: A temperature that does not respond to medication or sponge baths.
- Persistent Local Reaction: Significant pain or swelling at the injection site that lasts longer than 2–3 days.
