Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Using Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) technology, this procedure involves making 3 small incisions on the abdomen to insert equipment and a camera. The incisions are about 0.5 - 1 centimeter in size. The advantages of this method include small wounds, less pain for the patient, and reduced tissue injury, resulting in a faster recovery.
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (LC) Procedure
- The patient will be put under general anesthesia before the procedure.
- The surgeon makes one 1 cm incision near the navel and the right rib cage for the camera, and two other 0.5 cm incisions for surgical instruments. The surgeon then removes the gallbladder.
- The total procedure time is approximately 1 - 1.5 hours.
- After the procedure is complete, the patient will be moved to a recovery room for about 2 hours and then transferred to a patient room. After a 2-day hospital stay, the doctor will consider discharging the patient to go home.
Preparation Before LC
- Refrain from all food and drinks for at least 6 hours before the procedure.
Post-Operative Care after LC
- After the procedure, you may experience bloating or abdominal discomfort, which usually resolves on its own. If you have abnormal symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, a hard abdomen, significant bloating, shortness of breath, or fever, return to see a doctor immediately.
