History / Establishment
Khon Kaen Ram Hospital is a leading private tertiary hospital that offers a wide range of specialized medical services. It is one of 24 hospitals in the Ramkhamhaeng Hospital Group. The 300-bed hospital was established through a joint venture by a group of over 300 doctors, merchants, and prominent citizens of Khon Kaen province, along with the medical groups of Ramkhamhaeng Hospital and Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, with an initial registered capital of 200 million baht.
The company was officially registered on November 25, 1992. The foundation stone for the building was laid on Sunday, July 4, 1993, by Mr. Amnuey Viravan, who was the Deputy Prime Minister at the time. Construction took approximately 2 years to complete.
The official opening ceremony was held on Sunday, April 9, 1995, with Major General Sanan Kajornprasart, the Minister of Interior, presiding over the event. The hospital was opened to provide services to the people of Khon Kaen and neighboring provinces.
Hospital Genesis
The hospital was founded to serve as an alternative for patients with purchasing power who require fast and convenient services.
The management's goal was for the hospital to become the best private medical hub in the Northeast and for neighboring countries in the Mekong region. Initially, the hospital consisted of an 11-story building with 159 beds, situated on a 9-rai, 2-ngan plot of land on Srichan Road, 200 meters from the city gate. It had a usable area of over 20,000 square meters.
It offers 24-hour services with specialized medical teams, modern medical equipment, and a computerized system for the entire organization to ensure fast and accurate reporting.
Expansion
In 2002, the hospital began to expand its various service departments, including the addition of a 10-story North Wing and renovations of the old building to support the following services:
- CT Scan, the first to be offered in the Northeast.
- The first LASIK center in the Northeast.
- The first cardiac catheterization and angioplasty center in a private hospital in the Northeast.
- Comprehensive health check-up center.
- Dermatology and Aesthetic Clinic.
- Khon Kaen Ram Thai Spa and Massage.
- Khon Kaen Ram Sports Center.
- Hemodialysis/Dialysis Center.
In 2007, the hospital constructed a new 12-story building to expand its OPD and inpatient services, bringing the total number of beds to 301. The key parts of Building 2 include clinics for Eyes, Ear, Nose, and Throat, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics-Gynecology. We also expanded the number of operating rooms by 6, for a total of 11 including the old building. We opened a gastrointestinal endoscopy center, expanded the dialysis department, and renovated the Accident and Emergency department to be more spacious, accommodating the increasing number of patients. The building has a usable area of more than 45,000 square meters with over 80 examination rooms.
In 2010, the hospital introduced **MRI** services and opened a **LASIK center with Femtolasik technology**, which was later developed into the ReLEX SMILE method in 2017.
