Plan Your Antenatal Care: Confidently Prepare to Welcome Your Little One

Planning your antenatal care ensures that throughout the 9 months of pregnancy, both mother and baby receive complete and safe health monitoring, free from complications, in preparation for a suitable and safe delivery.

“Once you know you are pregnant, you should see a doctor for antenatal care immediately. The ideal time for the first visit is before 12 weeks of gestation.”

Khon Kaen Ram Hospital provides antenatal care services with a team of specialized doctors offering close supervision. The doctor will take your medical history, perform a physical examination, check the pregnancy, and conduct blood and urine tests to screen for any abnormalities, assess fetal growth, and monitor for potential complications during pregnancy.

We also provide advice and health education on nutrition, necessary prenatal vitamins for mother and baby, and self-care practices throughout pregnancy leading up to delivery.

Vaccines for Pregnant Mothers (Included in the Antenatal Care Package)

Vaccination during pregnancy helps stimulate immunity for both the mother and the fetus, and also helps protect the baby from infection in the early postnatal period. Important vaccines for pregnant mothers include:

  1. Tetanus Vaccine
    • Pregnant mothers should receive two doses of the tetanus vaccine. The first dose is given in the first trimester, and the second in the third trimester.
  2. Influenza (Flu) Vaccine
    • Because the flu can be dangerous for pregnant women and can lead to severe complications such as pneumonia, pericarditis, or heart failure, one dose of this vaccine is recommended, starting from the second trimester onwards. The flu shot not only protects the mother but also passes immunity to the baby.
  3. Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Vaccine
    • There has been an increase in diphtheria and pertussis outbreaks in Thailand. Therefore, vaccinating the mother helps protect the newborn during the early stages. The appropriate time for this vaccination is the third trimester. It is a 3-in-1 vaccine (Tdap) that also helps prevent tetanus during pregnancy and childbirth. This vaccine should be administered during every pregnancy.
