Head Injury (การบาดเจ็บที่ศีรษะ)
A head injury can cause immediate or delayed damage to the brain. In many cases, internal lesions or bleeding develop slowly over time. A patient might appear normal at first, but as the injury progresses, their condition can deteriorate rapidly. If not treated promptly, this can lead to permanent disability or death.
Crucially: Early physical examinations or even initial CT scans may not show any abnormalities. To prevent dangerous complications, it is vital for patients and their relatives to monitor for "delayed symptoms" that may appear hours or even days later.
Emergency Symptoms: Seek Medical Help Immediately
If the patient experiences any of the following, return to the hospital without delay:
- Decreased Consciousness: Becoming unusually drowsy, difficult to wake, or losing consciousness.
- Behavioral Changes: Extreme restlessness, agitation, or abnormal speech/confusion.
- Seizures: Any form of twitching or convulsing.
- Physical Weakness: Weakness or numbness in the arms or legs.
- Fever: Developing a fever after the injury.
- Persistent Vomiting: Frequent or forceful vomiting.
- Severe Headache: Pain that does not improve with standard pain medication.
- Fluid Leakage: Clear fluid or blood-tinged fluid leaking from the ears, nose, or down the throat. (Warning: Do not blow your nose.)
- Neck Pain: Pain at the base of the skull or nape of the neck.
- Vision Problems: Extreme dizziness, blurred vision, or double vision.
- Any Other Suspect Abnormalities.
